• Full Name: Lady Sariell of Cedan
  • Nicknames: Sara
  • Position: Noblewoman

Sariell is Katreia's older cousin and one of her closest companions from her childhood. The daughter of Lady Aille and Lord Esrias, she is a noble of the Cedanian court who enjoys considerably more autonomy than her cousin. Warm, carefree, and a romantic at heart, she shares her cousin's mischievous streak, though tempered with good manners which seem to come naturally to her.

Sariell likes to hum and sing in the hallways, mingling with servants and learning their customs and songs.

She has long, light golden hair, and often dreams of courtly romance, though she doesn't often speak of it. Although she is very proud of her father's career in swordsmanship, she never wishes to follow in his footsteps, finding the art too violent for her tastes.

Sariell was born the daughter of Lady Aille (the Queen's sister) and Lord Esrias, a master swordsman who also teaches.

Although hre father once wished to teach her to swordfight, it quickly became clear that she had no interest in such "violent" arts. Nevertheless, she was always a close companion of Katreia, her cousin and the princess, committing various acts of mischief around the castle with her.

Although their personalities diverged over time, their bond only strengthened, and all of the princess' friends also became her own.

  • Katreia: Her closest friend and cousin, they have been together since childhood, stealing pastries, exploring the castle, and getting in various kinds of trouble. Though they do not share a parent, their bond is almost sisterly.
  • Akherien: A friend of her cousin's who became her friend after they were introduced, Sariell is trying to make Akherien feel welcome in the castle.
  • Cendreile: At first, Cendreile is to Sariell another of the castle's acquisitions who drew the princess' attention and became included in their friend group in time. Sariell and Cendreile bond over music, sharing tunes that get stuck in each other's heads.
  • Qenerain: Sariell first met Qenerain in the garden when the latter was still a squire, and soon before he became a full knight, their teasing turned to flirtation.
  • Parents: In contrast with Katreia, Sariell is close to both of her parents, who love her dearly. Her father, Esrias, once wished to teach her to swordfight. Lady Aille is more exacting, but adores her daughter no less.
